The short answer
The demo technical update introduces a public-testing beta and additional performance controls. Its results are developer reports, not guaranteed frame rates.
Try the documented beta
The technical post gives the branch name public-testing and says it needs no password. Branch names and availability may change; read that post before switching.
- In Steam, open the game’s Properties.
- Open Game Versions & Betas.
- Select public-testing if it is still offered.
- Note the branch and build before reporting a problem.

Settings the update adds
The update documents a Very Performance setting, separate music, effects and voice sliders, and VSync, frame cap and anti-aliasing controls in Graphics. Try one setting at a time and compare the same scene; this is a diagnostic suggestion, not a measured best-settings preset.

Compatibility limits
The post says its optimizations help older graphics cards and lower-memory systems, but it still does not support shader model 6.5 at that point. The developer reports 60 fps in most Steam Deck levels. We have not reproduced that result or established a stable full-game preset.
