The short answer
PlayStation’s hands-on PS5 demo report describes L1 to parry and holding L1 while pressing X to deflect. These are preview controls: check your current controller layout before practising, especially on another platform.
What the official overview establishes
Capcom describes blade-on-blade combat as centered on parrying and deflecting. Its PS5 demo overview lists Parry and Deflect as separate techniques available to try.
Those developer descriptions do not define timing windows, resource costs or rewards. The separate hands-on report below supplies preview inputs.

- Open your current controller layout and match the action names.

What this guide still cannot answer
Retail controls, timing windows, stamina effects, invulnerability, damage and any perfect-parry reward remain unverified here. Break Issen has a separately documented stamina trigger; do not treat it as proof of a Parry or Deflect reward.
