The short answer
Equip the opening gear, learn the time-cost symbols and choose which nearby quests matter to you before spending the prologue’s daylight. Keep a separate manual save before a decision you may want to revisit.
Before you start
- Check your platform’s installed patch
- Start a manual save you can recognise
- Use the game’s current objective text
Equip before leaving home
- Take the clothes from the bedroom chest and equip them. Complete the firewood chore and collect the Training Sword when Pieter directs you to it.
- Open combat settings and choose whether you want directional controls or the assisted omni options. Practise a block and a single reply before committing to longer attack strings.
- When a quest sends you to a missing person, inspect the area with Focus Mode instead of assuming the marker is the final destination.

Choose the next job deliberately
Our recommended opening priorities are the family’s medicine, a decision about helping Yanna, and Gavril’s missing-person lead. These are choices for this route, not an exhaustive list or a guaranteed best ending.
Walking around to learn the layout does not continually spend story time. An interaction can still advance an objective: read the displayed cost before confirming it. Keep exploration and commitment separate in your plan.
If the opening is going wrong
Check the active objective, your last manual save and the installed update before repeating the same interaction. Hotfix 1.0.4 addresses several early progression and saving problems. Our patch guide separates those reported fixes from steps that still need individual investigation.
