How to find Umbral Aniimo and keep their appearance
Look for Umbral in Wild Surges and the open world, then verify the Umbral appearance tag. If you want to keep that look, inspect it before evolving: the recorded game tooltip says evolution or transformation removes the Umbral appearance.

Choose an encounter route
Pawprint’s launch letter adds Umbral encounters to Wild Surges and open-world exploration and describes their Perfect Potential. Nurturing is therefore a practical route that can also advance a Prismana hunt, although an Umbral result is not guaranteed.
- Prepare capture supplies before a Wild Surge or an exploration session.
- Inspect unusual creatures and the encounter label rather than identifying Umbral from dark colouring alone.
- After acquiring one, open its details and check the appearance tag and Innate Potential.

Read the appearance warning before evolving
At 06:41 in Kairos’s recording, the Appearance Tag panel identifies Umbral, states that its Innate Potential is always Perfect, and warns that its Umbral appearance disappears after evolution or transformation. This is a visible in-game warning, not an inference from its colour.
If the appearance is your collection goal, keep the creature in its current form until you have checked the intended change. A dark Sparkling style and Umbral are different labels; a dark palette alone does not establish that you own both.

How rare is Umbral?
No universal Umbral encounter percentage is supplied by the official sources reviewed here. MysticKorea reports Umbral eggs from Egg Heist, including one in a small ten-run Normal-mode sample. That is evidence of a reported result, not a measured global drop rate.
Record eggs checked, mode, successful extractions and actual outcomes separately if tracking your own results. Counting “runs” alone hides how many eggs each run produced.
