Offline play, online groups and crossplay

The October 6 developer FAQ says the solo campaign, scenarios and Arcade events can be played offline. Patches, multiplayer and connected Arcade leaderboards need internet; PC also needs an online connection on its first launch for authentication. Kingy has not tested these requirements.

Online parties currently hold up to three players; the developer plans a six-player limit in a future update, which is not available now. Race capacity is separate: up to 12 players in Quick Race and Multiplayer Tour, or eight in Quick Podrace and Podracer Tour, with AI filling remaining spaces. A two-person party needs a third player outside that party to start a new race or Tour.

Crossplay is enabled by default and can be turned off. The FAQ says the Arcade leaderboard compares friends and there is no split-screen multiplayer. Confirm the current Steam account and software requirements before installing; the earlier EOS/Epic-account notice has not been reconfirmed.

Track parts separately from a tour

Hibi’s workshop fits parts that you earn or buy. The preview describes persistent unlocks and perks, but does not give a complete carryover inventory. Before comparing runs, note the craft, fitted parts and event together; a changed result may come from any of the three.

The FAQ says podracers cannot be customized. Do not apply the workshop’s parts system to them.

What ends a tour?

Lucasfilm says too many crashes end the current tour. You then rebuild and begin another attempt; selected perks and unlocks persist. The article does not give the crash threshold or an exhaustive list of retained parts, currency and upgrades.

Hibi’s workshop is in each planet’s paddock. It fits parts earned during runs or bought from Hibi. Record a fitted part separately from a permanent unlock; the preview does not say every carried item survives a failed tour.
