Before you start
- Use the Japanese specification for this numeric check. It describes the advertised October 22, 2026 product; Kingy has not tested a released build or your controller arrangement.
- Count players using one console and individual loose Joy-Con units. Two units make a pair, but the selector counts each unit separately.
- Online features require a Nintendo Account, internet access and Nintendo Switch Online membership, with country availability restrictions. Offline users can skip that check.
Find your documented controller setup
Choose an activity and the players using this one console. The result compares physical Joy-Con units with the published Japanese specification; it does not certify a playable setup.
This numeric selector uses Nintendo Japan’s specification. US, UK or unknown applicability cannot establish the same player and controller counts.
Nintendo Japan prelaunch specifications checked September 30, 2026. No installed build or gameplay tested; US/UK parity and total remote lobby capacity remain unverified.
Counts are source-reviewed prelaunch requirements. The guide below explains exceptions and next checks without JavaScript.
Match the setup to the activity
The selector draws on all 100 rows of Nintendo Japan’s TV/tabletop matrices. Its row link lets you compare the exact play-mode panel and activity with the original specification. Source checked September 30, 2026; this is a prelaunch requirement calculation.
Activity names follow Nintendo UK descriptions where available. Match and Online match are descriptive translations. Warm-up groups Jump Rope, whose Japanese activity cell is a dash; it is not a verified menu name. If no activity is listed for a combination, the sources do not document it.
- Confirm the product is Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Nintendo Switch 2.
- Choose TV or tabletop, then the sport, connection and listed activity. The same sport can have different local-player limits across those choices.
- Enter only the people using this one console. Online rows do not establish the total number across remote consoles.
- Choose one loose-controller family and count its individual units. Leave an unknown count blank; use the unverified option for mixed generations or a specific left/right arrangement.
- Read the minimum and any shared or dedicated alternative. A count-enough result completes the quantity comparison; confirm the remaining controller hold, online conditions and applicable version before play.

Use the shared and solo exceptions correctly
A shared setup uses the group’s documented total; a dedicated setup assigns the stated number to each player. Do not add the two alternatives together. For example, four offline Archery players can use two shared units or eight dedicated units.
Power Cruising’s two-per-player multiplayer alternative is shown only when the selected row actually permits multiple local players. Tabletop online-friends Sea Sprint and Free Play allow one local player, so their requirement stays two units.
| Documented case | Minimum individual units | What changes the answer |
|---|---|---|
| Four offline Bowling players, TV or tabletop | 1 shared; 4 with one dedicated per player | Applies to Match and 100-Pin Game; online rows use per-player counts. |
| Four offline Archery players, TV or tabletop | 2 shared; 8 with two dedicated per player | Online rows require two units per local player. |
| Four offline Golf players, tabletop | 1 shared; 4 dedicated | The TV row requires 4; do not carry tabletop sharing into TV mode. |
| Solo Power Cruising | 2 | For applicable multiplayer rows, minimum one per player; optional two per player. |
| Solo Jump Rope warm-up | 2 | For 2–4 offline players, one unit per player. No online row established. |
| Skateboarding | 1 Joy-Con 2 per player in a valid row | Original Joy-Con cannot provide mouse operation. |

Check TV, tabletop and the two online connections
Online match and online with distant friends are separate connections in the Japanese specification. Choosing one does not establish the other’s per-console count. Four people at your console is not a default online allowance.
The US listing says more online-count details will follow, while the UK Players field is TBD. Neither supplies the same sport-by-mode matrix. If you are checking US or UK applicability, the selector returns unknown instead of presenting the Japanese numbers as regional parity.
| Example | TV local players | Tabletop local players |
|---|---|---|
| Tennis offline Match | 1–4 | 1 |
| Tennis offline Laid-Back Match | 1–2 | 1 |
| Bowling Online match | 1–2 | 1–2 |
| Bowling Match with distant friends | 1–2 | 1 |
| Basketball Three-Point Contest, offline | 1 | 1 |
| Basketball Three-Point Challenge / Five-Streak Battle, offline | 2–4 | 2–4 |
| Table Tennis / Boxing / Thumb Wrestling, Online match | 1 | 1 |

Confirm the console and controller arrangement
The product is for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Japan lists TV and tabletop play, with handheld unsupported. Its controller table permits loose Joy-Con 2 in two-unit, horizontal single-unit and vertical single-unit holds; it excludes the Joy-Con 2 grip and Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller.
Original Nintendo Switch Joy-Con may connect under Nintendo’s stated permission, but cannot use mouse features. Skateboarding’s rows expressly require Joy-Con 2. That permission does not establish original Pro Controller, other grips or third-party support.
A quantity check cannot confirm mixed generations, an arbitrary left/right allocation or the required hold for every activity. Keep those questions unresolved until the applicable setup instructions establish them. Wear wrist straps, allow adequate room and watch your surroundings as Nintendo directs.

Finish the online prerequisite check
The online prerequisite control appears only for an online selection. It records what you report; it does not sign in, inspect membership or test the network. Offline setup does not require that control.
Nintendo’s US footnote states the membership is sold separately and can auto-renew unless cancelled. This guide links the requirements; it does not advise buying equipment or a subscription from an unverified regional count.
- For an online connection, confirm Nintendo Account, internet access and Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Check whether online features and membership are available in your country. The source footnote includes regional restrictions.
- Compare your selected connection’s local-player count before inviting additional people onto this console. Keep remote lobby totals separate.
- If a required condition is missing or unknown, resolve it before expecting online play. Having enough controllers does not satisfy account or connection requirements.

When the selector cannot confirm a setup
The expected outcome is a specific documented player range and minimum unit count, or a clear reason the sources cannot supply one. Pairing-menu steps, technique, scoring and observed launch behavior need additional evidence.
The advertised October 22 release date does not prove launch availability. A later source-check date alone will not certify a patch or controller combination; changes to the official matrix must be reviewed before the selector’s scope expands.
| Result or problem | Next check |
|---|---|
| Unknown specification or US/UK selected | Read the applicable regional detail; Japanese numeric parity remains unverified. |
| Player count outside the selected row | Choose a row that accepts that many local players; a different activity or play mode may fit. |
| Too few units | Use an expressly listed shared alternative or change the group/activity; do not assume sharing for every row. |
| Unverified controller arrangement | Check family, left/right allocation and hold in applicable official instructions. |
| No row for the combination | Treat it as undocumented. Online Jump Rope and local-wireless support cannot be inferred. |
| Count enough but online conditions incomplete | Resolve the account, internet or membership requirement; the count result covers quantities only. |
| Installed build behaves differently | Keep the build, region, exact activity, play mode, connection and controller arrangement with the report. |
