A missed star does not block spell casting
Demo 0.466 added an extra help option and a tutorial explaining that casting does not require a star rating. Repeating a song for a higher score is a separate choice.

Song of Tilling difficulty
Version 0.484 makes this first song easier. The developer also says songs are not designed to be perfected on the first few attempts. If performance is interrupting your session, use the music help or skip option rather than treating a perfect score as a quest requirement.
