Before you start
- Path of Exile 2 Early Access. This guide uses 0.5.5 and corrections through 0.5.5d; Kingy has not tested gameplay or the scheduled full release.
- Know your character’s league and inspect the map’s tablet slots. Inventory ownership alone does not show what applied.
Check your league and applied tablets
Early Access 0.5.5 rules and fixes through 0.5.5d. Count tablets confirmed applied to this map. Owning four tablets does not mean four applied.
Check your character’s league first. Standard, Forbidden Rites, and Runes of Aldur have different availability rules.
Check for grey tablets and red numbers before confirming how many applied.
This checks the published rules. It does not connect to your save, establish how many slots your map has, or predict drops. The sourced table and failure cases below remain available without JavaScript.
If tablets never drop, check the league first
0.5.5 brings Expedition, Farrow, and Dannig into the core game from Act 4. The ongoing Runes of Aldur league has different item availability. The notes do not settle what happens to an already-held tablet there.
Aldur’s Saga is also restricted: it is not obtainable outside Runes of Aldur. Its special modifiers can appear on Grand Expeditions using a Logbook in Standard or Forbidden Rites. Do not infer identical access rules from an older Aldur farming guide.
- Check whether this character is in Standard, Forbidden Rites, or the continuing Runes of Aldur league.
- In Standard or Forbidden Rites, use the applied-count rules below. The notes establish availability, not a guaranteed drop on any particular run.
- In Runes of Aldur, stop treating missing Expedition Tablet drops as a farming-duration problem: 0.5.5 says they cannot be obtained there.

Read the thresholds for tablets confirmed applied
Each row is the effect added when that threshold is reached. At three applied tablets, the first, second, and third rows apply; the fourth row requires a fourth confirmed application. The table describes Expedition Tablets, not every tablet type.
Increased Kalguuran Expedition density increases chests, monster flags, and Verisium Remnants in the site. The two stated 35% increases are separate increments; these notes do not establish a profit forecast or a universal four-slot map setup.
| Confirmed applied | Effect added at this threshold |
|---|---|
| 1 | Adds a Kalguuran Expedition. |
| 2 | Adds a Verisium Remnant and 35% increased Kalguuran Expedition density. |
| 3 | Adds an additional Kalguuran Expedition. |
| 4 | Adds an additional Verisium Remnant and an additional 35% increased density. |

If a tablet is grey with a red number
0.5.5d prevents Ctrl-Clicking Precursor Tablets into unavailable slots on non-regular maps. Its grey/red feedback identifies a tablet that was not applied.
The earlier display of a fourth tablet when only three slots were available was a visual bug: that fourth tablet was never consumed. This explains that specific report; it does not prove that every missing-tablet report has the same cause. The sources do not provide the full slot-unlock progression.
- Exclude the grey/red tablet from the confirmed applied count.
- Inspect the available slots for this particular map. Do not assume four slots because you own four tablets.
- On a non-regular map, check whether the intended slot is unavailable. 0.5.5d specifically cites Matriarch/Patriarch Halls and Grand Expedition.
- If the display still disagrees with what applied, record the build, map type, visible slots, and tablet feedback before changing the setup.

If an endgame map has no natural Expedition
0.5.5b fixed a bug preventing Expeditions from spawning naturally in endgame and increased Expedition, Temple, and Delirium Tablet drop rates. Check the current patch before comparing an older run with today’s behavior.
Those notes give no exact drop chances. A map without a natural Expedition does not by itself prove the bug persists. Likewise, zero applied tablets does not rule out a natural Expedition.

If Act 4 islands or the Verisium Anvil are blocked
Check the quest requirement relevant to your blocker. The Boat Charter change retains its existing-character exception; do not tell every returning character to repeat that turn-in.
These sources confirm the Anvil’s prerequisite, but do not provide Runeseeker’s NPC route or coordinates. If that quest itself is stuck, record its exact objective rather than following an invented walkthrough.
| Blocked access | Documented condition and result |
|---|---|
| Act 4 islands | 0.5.5c requires turning the Boat Charter in to Makoru. Existing characters that never did so are unaffected. |
| Verisium Anvil outside Runes of Aldur | Complete the Act 4 Runeseeker quest to unlock the Anvil. |
| Farrow in your Hideout | After unlocking, Farrow can be placed in the Hideout in all leagues. |

Match the answer to your current build
The English Early Access index listed 0.5.5d when these sources were reviewed on September 30, 2026. The current Steam page schedules leaving Early Access on December 11, 2026 PST. These tablet and access rules have not been verified on that future full release.
The later 0.5.5e staff post was read on October 7. It announces five changes concerning texture quality, Ritual encounters, Tomb access, loading and hideout art, without an Expedition Tablet change. This does not retest the older tablet rules on 0.5.5e; keep the source version with the guidance.
For a changed patch or unresolved report, keep the league, build, map type, applied count, slot feedback, and quest objective together. A source review date does not re-test gameplay compatibility.
