Quest and weapon progression

Gogmazios unlock requirements and your first Gogma Artian upgrade

The short answer

Complete A First Cry and reach HR 100, then finish An Ancient Resting Place and Ghosts Pay No Heed to Tomorrow. The first Extra Mission defeat opens the permanent normal repeat hunt. Gogmazios materials convert a Rarity 8 Artian weapon at the Smithy; read your displayed recipe before spending them.

Before you start

  • Released PS5, Xbox Series X|S or Steam PC base game with the relevant Title Update 4 features installed. Offline repeat hunts and Gogma melding are later 1.041 additions.
  • This is a source-reviewed access and first-conversion guide. Kingy has not played the hunt or verified your save; Switch 2 and Ascendance behavior is untested.

Check the quest chain in order

The 1.040 notes name both Extra Missions and their prerequisites. If you are HR 100 but An Ancient Resting Place is missing, check A First Cry first. If the next mission is missing, check the earlier Extra Mission’s completion on the same character.

Use the mission names and completion state shown in your game. Exact quest-giver coordinates and platform-specific menu buttons were not established by these sources. If the listed prerequisites are met but a mission remains absent, record the edition, installed version and mission state for the game’s support instead of changing or deleting saves.

After the first defeat, use the normal repeat quest

Capcom describes a repeatable permanent Event Quest following the first Extra Mission defeat. The later 1.041 System notes explicitly identify Specter of Their Sins as the Gogmazios quest made playable offline. This is a useful distinction when an older guide assumes an online connection is always required.

No fixed number of hunts or guaranteed material quantity is established here. The checker reports your next access step and points you back to the game for rewards and recipe counts.

  1. Confirm that your first Gogmazios defeat was in the Extra Mission.
  2. For the normal repeat hunt, check the listing for Specter of Their Sins.
  3. If you want offline play, confirm your update includes the 1.041 offline change. A Title Update 4-only reference does not establish offline access.
  4. Check the actual rewards and your Smithy requirements before deciding how many repeat hunts you need.

Choose the right hunt before planning support

The normal special hunt permits up to four human hunters plus four Support Hunters. The eight-character formation does not provide eight human slots.

Special Assignment: Slay Gogmazios is the separate 10-star permanent Event Quest announced for March 12, 2026. Capcom warns that its upper level has no Support Hunters. Confirm the quest title before relying on the normal hunt’s support formation; this guide does not establish the 10-star quest’s separate entry conditions.

Convert your first Rarity 8 Artian weapon at the Smithy

The developer announcement says existing reinforcement bonuses transfer to the converted weapon. It also says the added bonus skill and group skill are chosen at random, so the first conversion does not guarantee a preferred skill combination.

Gogma Reinforce and Reset Skills are follow-on options. Reset Skills uses Gogma materials to change the bonus skill and group skill; it is not the initial conversion step. Exact reinforcement choices, recipe quantities and Zenny costs need the applicable in-game screen.

The inspected official sources specify Rarity 8. They do not establish full reinforcement as a mandatory conversion prerequisite. If the Smithy refuses a particular weapon, read its actual requirement text rather than adding an unsupported rule.

  1. Select the Rarity 8 Artian weapon you intend to upgrade.
  2. At the Smithy, inspect the Gogma Artian upgrade option added in Title Update 4.
  3. Compare the displayed Gogmazios material requirements and any listed cost with your inventory. Gather what the recipe actually asks for.
  4. Review the selected weapon, then confirm the conversion when the game’s requirements are satisfied.
  5. Inspect the resulting reinforcement bonuses, bonus skill and group skill before planning further changes.

Check material melding without assuming its unlock

The 1.041 Bases and Facilities notes add Gogma material melding at the Melding Pot. If that option is visible in your game, inspect its available exchanges alongside your missing Smithy materials.

The note does not give the precise unlock condition, exchange rates or a guaranteed shortcut around the first hunt. If the option is absent, retain that as an unresolved unlock question rather than assuming a broken save or recommending an invented trade.

A dated safety-marker change, with a combat limit

In 1.040.03.00, successfully weakening Gogmazios’s special attack prompts a Fabius signal and a guild-icon objective marker. The notes also add markers for elevated safe positions after a failed weakening attempt and say attacks no longer reach those elevated areas after failure.

These changes explain why footage from an older build may show different cues. They do not establish attack timings, the route to each safe position or a complete arena strategy. Follow your in-game cues; a full combat route still needs applicable gameplay evidence.

Base-game scope and what a source check establishes

This guide joins Title Update 4 rules with the later offline and melding changes. The latest observed Steam gameplay note in the September 30 audit is 1.042.00.02. Its frame-rate-fix notice does not re-test every earlier mechanic, identify your installed build or guarantee performance.

Capcom schedules Nintendo Switch 2 for December 4, 2026 and the separate Ascendance expansion for 2027. Those announcements do not establish quest parity, controls or performance for the future editions. The checker excludes them.
