The short answer
The official FAQ says friends must be on the same server to play together, but players are not locked to one server. Loftia requires an internet connection even for solo play. Cross-play remains unconfirmed.
Before you start
- Prelaunch FAQ guidance. The exact friend-invite and server-switch menus are not verified here.
Agree on the session before planning a shared island
These are Kingy's preparation checks. The FAQ supports server flexibility, but does not publish an exact button sequence or a guaranteed party-capacity figure. A tested menu route will be added after launch.
- Confirm that each person plans to use a supported launch platform and can be online.
- At launch, check the current server and friend-invite instructions together.
- Confirm that you can see each other in the same game space before planning a shared activity.
- If you cannot meet, record the platform, server and error rather than assuming that an invitation guarantees a shared instance.

Solo play still uses the online world
Qloud says playing alone will not block progression and permits almost all content. That is compatible with an online-only game: solo describes who you play with, not whether the game runs offline.
The FAQ describes Switch as a later platform and cross-play as an aim under investigation. Do not organize a PC-and-Switch launch group around a feature that is not confirmed.
