Before you start
- This guide covers the upcoming Dragon’s Dogma 2 expansion and its Steam purchase options. Entry advice is Capcom’s pre-release announcement, checked October 1, 2026; Kingy has not played the expansion.
Match the Steam purchase to the base game you own
Check your Steam library before choosing. The standalone DLC is additional content for Dragon’s Dogma 2; it does not include the required Steam base game. Capcom’s Q&A directs existing Steam owners to that expansion and new players to the base game or the combined bundle.
The bundle description warns that its items are also sold separately. Review what you own before buying overlapping packages. The sources here do not establish cross-platform entitlements.
For Switch 2, Capcom separately announces a package combining the main game and expansion. That console package does not establish ownership of the Steam base game. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is an expansion to DD2, so purchase and entry instructions for the original Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen do not apply here.

Base-game play and expansion access have different timing
The English Steam bundle description says Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be played immediately. It lists the Dark Arisen Expansion separately for Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM PDT / Friday, October 9, 2026 at 1:00 AM BST. These are the listing’s advertised clocks, not a tested launch receipt.
Capcom’s corporate announcement gives October 9, 2026 for Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Keep the Steam timezone labels with its times; do not use them as a verified console unlock schedule. Having the base game available does not make the upcoming expansion available early.

Prepare for the announced Brant entry point
Capcom’s September preparation post says both Forsaken Dominion and Lost Rites can be accessed early in the main story by speaking with Brant at the tavern after arriving in Vernworth. You can use base-game time before release to work toward that arrival. This is the publisher’s announced route; Kingy has not tested the conversation in the expansion.
Record where your current playthrough is before relying on this preparation advice. These sources do not establish entry behavior for every save state or save transfer between platforms. If your playthrough no longer matches the described early-story situation, consult applicable official instructions when the expansion is available rather than resetting progress on the basis of this guide.

Recommended starting levels: 40 and 20
The recommendations apply to the beginning of each content. Capcom says both become more demanding as you progress. Level 40 or 20 therefore does not certify that the whole expansion will be easy, and level 39 or 19 is not described as an access block.
Choose how much base-game preparation you want before the scheduled release. The publisher names an early entry point and advisory levels; it does not prescribe an optimal build in this advice.
| Content | Recommended starting level | Below that level? |
|---|---|---|
| Forsaken Dominion | 40 | Capcom says players may challenge it below the recommendation |
| Lost Rites | 20 | Capcom says players may challenge it below the recommendation |
